Tao Bible - Exodus 11:5

And all the firstborn in the land of Egypt shall die, from the first born of Pharaoh that sitteth upon his throne, even unto the firstborn of the maidservant that is behind the mill; and all the firstborn of beasts.
~ King James version ~

Tao is not a murderer.
~ possible Taoist alternative ~
I find this whole section befuddling. The Bible states that God hardens the Pharaoh's heart so that he will not free the people of Israel. At the same time, however, God punishes Pharaoh for HAVING the hardened heart that God himself has hardened. The punishment this time? God will murder the first-born of each of the Egyptian people AND their animals.

Nothing is singled out by Tao for reward or punishment. People create distinctions; Tao does not. People have wills; Tao does not. People allow their emotions to rule them; Tao has no emotions, so Tao is not ruled.

  1. I still don't understand Tao but I agree that the "God" who does this is a nasty piece of work.
