From what I've seen of life, regardless of what an individual believes, all people eventually get sick and die. When reading the obit pages, I can't tell you how many times individuals are lauded for their Christian lifestyles and the importance the church played in their earthly lives. Yet, no matter how fervently they believe and no matter how much they dedicate their lives to the images of God and Jesus, they still seem to die from the same afflictions as nonbelievers.
This fact would seem to fly in the face of Exodus 23:25.
If only those who TRULY serve God are to be freed from sickness AND God already knows that no one will serve him fully, what's the point of this line? Is it to dangle a reward in front of our faces that God already knows that no one can claim?
That smacks of pure spitefulness to me.

This fact would seem to fly in the face of Exodus 23:25.
And ye shall serve the LORD your God, and he shall bless thy bread, and thy water; and I will take sickness away from the midst of thee.I realize that it could be argued that, since no human is fully perfect in their devotion to the Lord, that this is why Christians die of heart attacks and cancer like everyone else. However, since Christians accept the notion that we are each born in sin, doesn't that mean that this verse contains a flawed promise?
