Our Day in the Sun

After weeks of mist, drizzle and mostly in vain attempts to inch above 60 degrees, summer has come to our environs. For only the third time this calendar year, our temperature has made it past 85 degrees. It's still climbing -- currently it's 89 -- and I won't be surprised if we surpass 90. Tomorrow is forecast to be even hotter!!

Of course, most of the rest of you Americans have been dealing with one heatwave after another. There have been many days this summer in which our temps have hung in the mid 50s and I've noticed that almost everywhere else it's 80, 90, 100 or more. Let's just say, for the most part, I don't envy you at all.

What's different about our mini heatwave as compared to your longstanding heat waves is humidity. While far too many of you must put up with searing temperatures, you also must factor in high moisture in the air. Not here! Though the temp is high, our relative humidity stands at a very comfortable 26%.

It won't be excessively hot here for very long either. If the forecasts turn out to be correct, we'll be back in our more typical upper 60s by early next week.

I realize you can't see it, but I'm sticking out my tongue at you. :-D

  2. Please pass the low humidity this way. I can handle the heat, but the sticky has never been my strong suit. Today will be a good day though; forecast only calling for mid to lower 80's

  3. Maybe you are going to get blueberries after all. This is just what they need to get nice and juicy.
