Wen Tzu - Verse 61, Part I

from Verse Sixty-One
The Way is to straighten oneself and await the direction of destiny. When a time is going to arrive, you cannot go out to greet it and bring it to you; when a time is going to leave, you cannot stop it and pull it back.
~ Wen-tzu: Understanding the Mysteries ~
We're forever trying in vainly to force time and circumstance to conform to our will. We think that, if we can exert the correct amount and type of pressure, things will fall into the order we prefer. Yet, for all our efforts, this tact never seems to work as intended.

It is only when we "let go" of trying to control every aspect of our lives that we can find peace of spirit. When we admit that life will unfold as it will, we leave behind our former life of anxiety, stress and misery.

Like Doris Day, we need to learn to sing, "Que Sera Sera."

  1. Que Sara Sara!
An easy way to remember to stay detached! What nay-sayers to this philosophy may not understand is that in focusing less on the feeling of unsureness and insecurity about the future, and being in the present moment(which is of course a gift), we are free from fear and anxiety and in a much better position to attract into our reality what we would like to happen.

  2. And don't forget, it's also about not dwelling in the past. Don't look back. Qu'a ete a ete.

  3. Then I'm ahead of the game. I can barely remember what I did last week. :D
