Wen Tzu - Verse 43

from Verse Forty-Three
The Way is so high there is nothing above it, so deep there is nothing below it.

It is evener than a level, straighter than a plumb line, rounder than a compass, squarer than a ruler.

It contains the universe but has no outside or inside; it is hollow like an overturned bowl and has no obstruction.
~ Wen-tzu: Understanding the Mysteries ~
I LOVE this passage! It's a most poetic way of stating that the One is not merely part of everything; it IS everything. If the vital essence of life is limitless, then how could you or I or anything else not be of it?

  1. You see this, but still you wish to change the world, and the way people think?
The trouble people have with tao is its utter simplicity.
Having glimpsed it, many are moved to leap into action and shout it from the rooftops.
One's only responsibility is to become it for oneself.
Thus one may shine brightly without form or ego.
And most of all, to do it without doing.
