My Son, My Son

Let's say there's a guy who is a very ornery and despicable person. Selfishness is his middle name. His next door neighbor, on the other hand, is a kindly and compassionate older gentleman, the kind of person who would give you the shirt off his back or his last dollar.

For years, the guy has been abusive toward the old gent. He steal things from him. He curses at him whenever he happens to see him. He argues about the boundaries between his yard and the old man's. This goes on nonstop for years.

From time to time, when the old man sees his neighbor he asks, "Why do you persecute me so?" The boorish man's answer is to hurl more invectives his direction.

One day a heinous crime is committed in their town. The authorities come to arrest the old man's son. The ugly neighbor thinks to himself, "Good riddance. I always thought that kid was a bit screwy anyway."

A few days later, the old man knocks on his front door. He tells him that he's hired a very inept attorney to defend his son. He KNOWS his son is innocent of the charges because he knows the identity of the guilty person. "So, why are you hiring an inept attorney," the brute screams at him. "Because I want to make things right between us" is the response.

The old man says he wants his innocent son to be found guilty and put to death. This is how he wants to put things right.

The old man tells his bully of a neighbor that, if the neighbor starts showing him the proper respect, the old man will forgive him of all the abuse thrown at him over the years.

If you read of such a true story as this, what would you think of the old man? I don't know about you, but I would think he was off his nut!!

Yet, this is the logic behind the mythology of Christianity. Son killed as the result of trumped up charges and the father not offering any help or assistance because he believes this sacrifice will save the "neighborhood".

  1. Rambling, you sure have a hard-on for Christianity. Let go of the logical, rational mind. Spirituality has nothing to do with logic. Jesus sacrificed his flesh to teach selflessness. The wordless teaching that by-passes the logic seeking mind and directly infiltrates the intuitive spirit.
Now that being said when spirituality becomes religion attachment to rites and rituals originates dependent on the presence of defiled mind qualities. These defiled mind qualities are greed, anger and delusion. This is the present state of all world religions. Most "Christians" do not follow the teachings of the Christ. They follow the laws of man. Thus, they are lost and suffering. The religion of Christianity contradicts most of Jesus' teachings.
But we can be true Christians just by abandoning our selfish ways and forgiving. As hard as it is to forgive these pseudo Christians who persecute violently in the name of the peace maker, we must.
Don't get me wrong my friend, I'm not trying to paint you as a Christian hater. I know your not like that. I'm really speaking from my own expirience with these silly creatures who call themselves Christians. As a follower of the Way I have a deep respect and reverence for the true teachings of Christ who is a Buddha.
I highly recomend reading "The Gospels in brief" by Leo Tolstoy. Also realize that Jesus proclaimed a new law. And any affiliation with the old testament was inferred by men greedy to keep the status quot in power.

  2. I have no idea why Jesus lived or died or even if he actually existed. And, as my friend Forest Wisdom has pointed out repeatedly, we truly no next to nothing about Jesus said or thought.

  3. Oops! the second clause of the second sentence should feature the word "know", not "no".
