Spring Forward Ho!

Despite the many things going on both in my personal life and across the nation, I'm really, really, really pumped this week. Why, you ask. Because this Sunday I get to set all the clocks in my house forward one hour. Yes, that's right, daylight savings time (DST) is almost here!!!

Some of you may think I'm being melodramatic or writing this tongue-in-cheek. Not so. I'm genuinely excited because I detest with great passion standard time. If I had my way, standard time would be thrown in the nearest dust bin and would never see the light of day again.

I will admit right here and right now that my preference for DST is completely selfish. It doesn't take anyone or anything else into account. The reason I cherish DST so much has to do with my weird nocturnal habits.

Unlike most "normal" and sane people, I generally don't climb into me bed until the wee hours of the morning (2 - 5 a.m.). This means, of course, that I arise much later than the rest of you working stiffs. Since it's generally cloudy and raining in my corner of the world during the winter, a semblance of a little daylight is premium.

When my little domain is under the evil spell of standard time, it means that I lose a precious hour of possible daylight. But when DST returns, I regain that hour and then some (because the days grow longer).

So bring it on!!! I'll have the chips and dip ready.

  1. This has nothing to do with the topic but I couldn't find anywhere else to post it.
Tough Questions Answered has posted an interesting article that I think clears up a lot of misconceptions on God's omnipotence.

another article (written by a professor who holds twin doctorates) can be found here-

Check 'em out. They're pretty interesting.

  2. Since I'm a regular visitor at Tough Questions Answered, I will agree they offer interesting articles. That said, said articles don't clear much of anything up.

And, just because a person might hold two doctorates, big deal. Doctorates do not make a person right.

  3. Thank goodness for that:
I was feeling a bit insecure about not having any doctorates.

  4. Fascinating. I am the exact opposite. I am a true morning person, and love the growing early morning light this time of year. Then evil DST comes along and plunges us back into darkness!
    Different strokes, I guess.

  5. I would implore you to check out the second link. I am not suggesting that because he has two doctorates, he is right. I am suggesting that because he has two doctorates, he will have done much research and put much thought into his article. (Not that Mr. Pratt doesn't.) It also helps that Dr. Craig is a research professor of philosophy. this doesn't make him right, however, it makes him very knowledgable about that subject
