Her adversaries are the chief, her enemies prosper; for the LORD hath afflicted her for the multitude of her transgressions: her children are gone into captivity before the enemy.I could have chosen numerous biblical citations to make this point, so this one will serve the purpose as well as any other. For the Christian, God doles out punishment based on his judgment as to our word, conduct and deed. In this sense, God is the judge, jury and executioner.

Tao, on the other hand, is the framework of existence, being and non-being. Tao is not a judge. Tao is not a jury. Tao is not an executioner.
If we find that we are afflicted, it is our own doing.
