107 - Turning Within

It is imperative that we withdraw to reflect upon the day's events and collect ourselves for the continuation of our path. There is no need to go to a temple, a sacred spot, or a special room. We do not need elaborate ritual. All we need is a simple and natural turning within.
~ from 365 Tao: Daily Meditations, Entry 107 ~
For those who view life through an eastern religious or philosophical viewpoint, much is made about meditation, yoga and Tai Chi. For those who embrace one of the Abrahamic religions, prayer is said to be the way to go. Other belief systems have their own preferred methodologies for interacting with the sacred. Any or all of these methods are well and good, they simply aren't mandatory.

I so agree with the thrust of the above passage! Too often, I think people become so overly caught up in the means that they forget about the ends. The whole point of any of these prescribed methods is to allow the individual to get in touch with the center or divine nature within ourselves. In the end, how you find your way there is unimportant; the journey to that special place within is what matters.

  1. That is so true my friend! Ritual is a serious business, but not too serious...
