Says Who?

The metaphysical or vulgar evolutionist world outlook see things as isolated, static and one-sided. It regards all things in the universe, their forms and their species, as eternally isolated from one another and immutable. Such change as there is can only be an increase or decrease in quantity or a change of place. Moreover, the cause of such an increase or decrease or change of place is not inside things but outside them, that is, the motive force is external.
We each like to feature quotes from others on our blogs. Sometimes it's a statement that holds special meaning for us. At other times, it's more of a provocative nature -- It's a statement or thought that challenges our preconceived notions.

This time, however, I'm not going to tell you right off the bat who wrote these words. Want to venture a guess as to who it is? (Use the comments section.) Will this be an easy or difficult quote to figure out? We'll see!

  1. I know who said it, but I'm too curious to see how your other readers will respond before I say...

  2. This is a tough question...
    Is it Popeye's spiritual advisor?

  3. I agree that's a tough one... on the one hand, there's the use of the phrase "vulgar evolutionist", which to me suggests that it's from a christian denouncer of evolution, but the rest of the quote describes a static interpretation of the world... Charles Darwin?

  4. Val wasn't fibbing!! In an email, she wrote, "Mao Zedong. On Contradiction." Right on the money on both counts!!
