The Guardian has reported that an e-petition to the White House to have CNN anchorman Piers Morgan deported is gathering steam. Morgan, a Brit, has been unabashed in his incredulity at America's lax gun laws. So, many of the gun-toting American public wants to see him tossed out on his ear for attacking (?) the Second Amendment.
I've got news for most Americans: The vast majority of the rest of the world AGREES with Piers' take on this issue. If you read the editorials from most of the world's leading newspapers and news organizations, they think that Americans are downright loony when it comes to this issue.
What most of them get -- which seems lost on so many of my fellow US citizens -- is that more guns tends to mean more violence. A lot of them simply can't fathom why we can't put two and two together! (Our students seem to be lagging behind in mathematical abilities -- maybe this is why!)
But why care what the rest of the world thinks. They are nobodies, not "exceptional" humans like citizens of the US of A. Yes, I would agree that, in this one instance, we American's ARE exceptional...exceptionally deluded!
On second thought, that's not true. Americans are deluded on a whole host of topics!
