Why I Don't Support Obama

For the most part, I try to stay away from politics here, not because I am not intensely politically opinionated, but because I am. Politics is one of the places where my own anger finds its 'justified' release. And that just robs me of my peace and actually does nothing in the real world, in any case.

I have recently decided to admit that I no longer support Obama; I no longer place any 'hope' in him. I have found this liberating. Now I no longer have to get angry when I see how he is little different from all the rest. And I no longer have to get angry when I hear that chump Romney spewing forth his own 'intellectual dishonesty'.

In the end, it is not really about them at all, but the empire they represent. I no longer support America in any way. The choice between Obama and Romney is equivalent to a choice between Nero and Caligula; one form of murdering madness can hardly be said to differ from the other, and the problem is incredibly greater than their individual madness, in any event.

I could catalogue a list of grievances I have with both these candidates and the beast they wish to represent, but that would serve only to suggest that there might be an alternative, and that, I have decided, is, at present, pure fantasy. Instead, I will take the advice of the madman Jieyu and just stay clear of the lot of them so as to avoid execution.

What I am trying to share in this post is not politics. I am not trying to make a case for a particular stance vis-a-vis American political realities. I am not suggesting that anyone should agree with me or that this is sound, responsible and 'spiritual' political theory. I wish only to share that, in the context of my own psychology, this act of letting go of political 'hope', of "handing it all over to the unavoidable", is liberating.
