And also I have withholden the rain from you, when there were yet three months to the harvest: and I caused it to rain upon one city, and caused it not to rain upon another city: one piece was rained upon, and the piece whereupon it rained not withered.

Yes, we've covered this terrain several times before, but it's a point the biblical writers keep repeating. In the Judeo-Christian view, God plays favorites and often deals severely with those that do not meet his expectations.

Tao has no expectations or desires. The process of existence plays out impartially for the good and bad, young and old, male and female, rich and poor, and pious and not pious.
