I am the LORD, and there is none else, there is no God beside me: I girded thee, though thou hast not known meHere we have yet another example of God's vanity. He constantly has this insatiable desire to thump his chest, so to speak. It's not enough that he is lord of all, but he has to announce it and rub people's faces in it.
~ King James version ~
Therefore the sage works without recognition.
He achieves what has to be done without dwelling on it.
He does not try to show his knowledge.
~ from Verse 77 of the Tao Te Ching ~
