Tao Bible - Psalm 35:8-9

Let destruction come upon him at unawares; and let his net that he hath hid catch himself: into that very destruction let him fall. And my soul shall be joyful in the LORD: it shall rejoice in his salvation.

I don't know about you, but it sounds like the writer is suggesting that we should be gleeful at the downfall of others.

If you rejoice at other people's misfortunes, you have strayed far from the Way. It means that your own selfish desires are in the driver's seat and you are on the path to be a fool, not a sage.
