Nothing Is Beyond Their Reach

I can think of few heartless corporations that I despise more than Monsanto. Showing little regard for potential environmental catastrophe, Monsanto has been at the forefront of pushing GMOs (Genetically Modified Organisms). At the rate they are going, our entire planet may be compromised in another generation or two!

Monsanto shows no interest whatsoever in silly things like ecosystem or human health. Why should they when there are billions upon billions of dollars to be had? Besides, like any other "good" capitalist corporation, if GMOs cause severe damage in the future, you and I will bear the brunt of the financial costs to clean up their mess, IF it can be cleaned up.

Monsanto's newest dalliance is a project to plant GMO corn in Mexico.
Mexico has approved its first pilot project to grow genetically-modified (GM) maize, a move expected to draw fire from environmental groups who fear its impact on treasured local corn.

The Agriculture Ministry said in a statement Tuesday that it had approved the project to grow GM yellow corn developed by the US biotech giant Monsanto on one hectare (2.5 acres) of land in the northern Tamaulipas state...
I realize that one hectare sounds small, but the wind will carry the mutated DNA much farther. The Mexican government knows this as does Monsanto. That's the big problem with GMOs; give them an inch and they will swallow up a mile.

But don't worry your pretty little head about such things. There are big profits to be made and that's all that really matters anyway.

  1. It just occurred to me, GMOs and Monsanto are the nuclear conundrum of the new millennium.
