A disciple asked, “Master, how do I become empty?”

“Are you then full? If you were not already empty you would not ask. Only you would strive to be substantial and flee from the emptiness you are,” answered Zhouzi.

“Master, I cannot feel that all is well!” exclaimed a despondent monk.

“All is well! What does how you feel have to do with it?”

  1. Well, then what's the point of all this? The young monk suffers, the old sage says it's all well and doesn't matter what you feel. I guess I agree, but it seems inhuman, heartless.
