In Verse 68 of the Tao Te Ching, Lao Tzu counsels us that:
A good soldier is not violent.Violence, anger and vengefulness ultimately will foster resentment and retribution. It perpetuates conflict and moves everyone away -- victor and vanquished alike -- from Supreme Virtue.
A good fighter is not angry.
A good winner is not vengeful.
