Stand Tall for What You Believe In

In my book, one way I judge if a person genuinely believes that what they do and say is in the right is how they do or say it. My criteria is universal -- it doesn't matter what side of the political aisle a person chooses to stand on. It doesn't matter what religious or philosophical belief a person calls their own. It doesn't matter if your name is George Bush, Saddam Hussein or Mother Teresa.

If believe something to be true, stand tall in your belief. State up front why you believe your opinion is the right thing to do or way to act. By standing tall, you prove your belief or opinion is real -- not necessarily correct -- but what you truly believe in.

The recent revelations that [p]Resident Bush has signed over 750 Signing Statements which quietly announce his intentions to subvert federal law are a prime example of NOT standing tall. In public, Dubya says one thing; in private he often does the exact opposite!

According to an April 30 article in The Boston Globe,
Bush is the first president in modern history who has never vetoed a bill, giving Congress no chance to override his judgments. Instead, he has signed every bill that reached his desk, often inviting the legislation's sponsors to signing ceremonies at which he lavishes praise upon their work.

Then, after the media and the lawmakers have left the White House, Bush quietly files ''signing statements" -- official documents in which a president lays out his legal interpretation of a bill for the federal bureaucracy to follow when implementing the new law. The statements are recorded in the federal register.

In his signing statements, Bush has repeatedly asserted that the Constitution gives him the right to ignore numerous sections of the bills -- sometimes including provisions that were the subject of negotiations with Congress in order to get lawmakers to pass the bill. He has appended such statements to more than one of every 10 bills he has signed.

''He agrees to a compromise with members of Congress, and all of them are there for a public bill-signing ceremony, but then he takes back those compromises -- and more often than not, without the Congress or the press or the public knowing what has happened," said Christopher Kelley, a Miami University of Ohio political science professor who studies executive power.
What this tells me is that Dubya KNOWS what he's doing ain't right. He doesn't have the balls to do it in the light of day; he does what he does under the cover of darkness.

In essence, we have a coward in the White House!

  1. Since you are now in Washington, why do you continue to ping the Oregon blogs site? If you are an honest person you should let ORblogs know that you are no longer an Oregon blogger. It is the honest thing to do.

Unless, as a socialist, you take whatever free ride you can get.

  2. Surprisingly enough, I DID inform ORBlogs of my move within 2 weeks of arriving in Aberdeen. The site's administrator told me that, at the current time, ORBlogs allows site from outside of Oregon WITH Oregon ties to remain a part of the community. Since I have Oregon ties, I decided to stay onboard.

Please note, however, that if you look at my profile, it indicates via the map that I LIVE IN WASHINGTON STATE -- I asked the site administrator to make sure this was noted. So, Dog Breath, I proved my point. I'm very up front about where I live, thank you.

  3. Yep - as I thought, a typical freeloading socialist.

And "Dog Breath"? Wow - what a loving Taoist you are.

  4. Hey, if I'm a freeloader, so are you. AT LEAST I live on Planet Earth! I could ask you why you ping ORBlogs instead of sticking to your native Uranus.

  7. aren't we getting a little bit carried away?
Afterall, the best way to keep a fascist from doing is thing is never talk about him. The big spoiler is plain and simple: they will die alone (thank you, Triumph!).
Now, back to the essence: Bush is really the worst thing that could happen to your country. I really wish luck to the next president to fill the hole he made in your national budget ...

But hey, let the fascists make their move, maybe a new war, new economy, more money ...? Djeez, they are smart afterall? Oh wait, who am I kidding...

  8. Can this be true? "The US has been under a national emergency and military law since September 24, 2001"

The Free Press International reported on 5.8.2006 that since President Bush declared a National Emergency on September 24, 2001 and issued Executive Order(EO) 13223, just after the 9/11 attack on the World Trade Center in NYC, that President Bushs' National Emergency is still in effect today.

Executive Order 13223, orders the Ready Reserve of the Armed Forces to active duty and delegates certain authorities to the Secretary of Defense and the Secretary of Transportation, under title 10 of the United States Code. Title 10 refers to 'general military law'
AVM: Is this like martial law? Is this the real reason he seems to be disregarding the Constitution in so many things? Just food for thought.

  9. I don't understany you claim you are a taoist but what you write is so mean. I think you try and use Taoism as some cover for your hate.

  10. Exactly! One must stand up for what they believe in, because only then can they trip over its delusion and hit thier head on the truth.

You're not called a "taoist" because you're perfectly at peace in a void of "tao"

You're called a "taoist" because you're in search of the enlightenment that can only be found on the other side of that understanding. It's a journey...just like all spiritual evolutions.

BTW, bert, take a listen to this, if you've not yet come across it!

Al Gore Lives On My Street

LOL the more I see Gore without his stupid inside-the-beltway Democratic limp-noodle consultants, the more I have to admire the guy!
